Henderson Firefighters Sell “Go Pink for the Cure” Shirts to Benefit Breast Cancer Research Foundation

(Henderson, Nev.) –For the second time, the Henderson Firefighters will be showing their support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) by selling “Go Pink for the Cure” charity shirts to the public. Fifty percent of the proceeds will benefit the BCRF, and the other half will go to the Henderson Firefighters Benevolent Association (HFBA), which benefits other local nonprofit organizations in the community.

Storey County Professional Firefighters Donate a $1,000 Scholarship to Local High School Student Christopher Dufresne



(Storey County, NV) – In July 2014, the Storey County Professional Fire Fighters (SCPFF) presented a graduating high school student with a $1,000 scholarship. This education-based donation is part of an annual effort for the firefighters to further education in the Storey County community.

Henderson Professional Fire Fighters Hold “Safe Pools Rule!” Press Conference and “Walk and Knock”

Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation Announce Fundraising Initiative at Event Benefitting Burn-Injured Children


(Las Vegas, Nev.) – On April 15, 2014, the Fire Fighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation (FFSNBF), in partnership with the Spiegel Burn Foundation, held a special fundraising event announcing their initiative to raise donations for the burn-injured children they assist. Tronox Holds Blood Drive in Partnership with United Blood Services


(Henderson, NV) – Tronox will be holding a company blood drive on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at their Henderson plant to encourage employees to donate blood to benefit the United Blood Services.

Last year, nearly 20 employees of Tronox joined in the cause to donate blood, and also encouraged friends and family to do the same. They donated approximately 20 pints during their summer blood drive, and hosted another drive in the fall. Continue Reading

Nevada Fire Fighters Support Red Cross



On January 23, at the Henderson Fire Training Center in Henderson, NV, the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada (PFFN) made a financial contribution of $20,000 to the American Red Cross “Fire Hurts. Red Cross Helps.” campaign, which provides assistance to victims who have been displaced from their homes due to fires throughout Nevada.

Toy bears donated to help injured children



It started last month with our local Raley’s Supermarket asking shoppers to buy discounted stuffed bears at the check-out register to comfort children involved in a disaster or emergency. The community generously responded with donations that purchased small stuffed animals that can be carried on our local fire-rescue ambulances and larger ones that can be distributed at the hospital emergency department. Raley’s Store Director, Mike Mazza, was able to acquire over 40 stuffed animals through customer donations, but Mike needed help finding a way to get them into the small hands and hearts that needed them the most.
