Tronox Receives Special Henderson Mayor and Council Commendation for Donation of Arbor Day Calendars to Local Elementary Schools

(Henderson, NV) – On June 17, 2014 at the Henderson City Council Meeting, Tronox received a special commendation from members of the Mayor and Council for their donation of Arbor Day school calendars, which showcase environmentally friendly focused drawings submitted by local students. The calendars are sponsored by Tronox Henderson plant in partnership with the city of Henderson Arbor Day Foundation.

Tronox Donates 21 Gift Cards to Robert L. Taylor Elementary School Robotics Club Students, and Plant Manager Donates Gift Cards to 8 President’s Awardees

(Henderson, Nev.) – On June 4, 2014, at the Robert L. Taylor Elementary School Graduation Ceremony, Tronox presented (13) Hobby Lobby gift cards to Robotics Club 5th grade graduates (in addition to (8) gift cards to 4th grade students). The Henderson Facility Plant Manager also personally donated gift cards to the school’s eight (8) President’s Awardees.

Each year, Tronox funds the Robotics Club, and also allows employees to volunteer as mentors during their normal work hours. Rick Stater, Henderson Plant Manager, got Tronox involved in the program seven years ago when club instructor, Dr. Larry Pilon, reached out to him for mentoring and financial assistance.

Storey County Professional Fire Fighters Donate $2K in Scholarships to Local High School Students Providing Two Students with $1,000 Scholarships Each

(STOREY, NV) – In June 2014, the Storey County Professional Fire Fighters presented two graduating high school students with the organization’s “2014 Scholarship Award.” These education-based donations are part of an annual effort for the firefighters to further education in their community.

Kurt Lynch and Chris Dusfrense of Virginia City High School were each presented with a $1,000 scholarship, which will help them with tuition and books when they attend college in the fall of this year. Members of the Storey County Fire Department personally presented the students with the scholarships (see photos).

Pahrump Valley Professional Fire Fighters Purchase Three Animal Oxygen Masks

(PAHRUMP, NV.) – In June 2014, the Pahrump Valley Professional Fire Fighters (PVPFF), in partnership with the town of Pahrump Fire Department, purchased three animal oxygen masks, to assist in saving lives of pets trapped and suffering smoke inhalation due to house fires. Pahrump Fire Chief Scott Lewis approved town funding for half the cost of the masks.

(NORTH LYON COUNTY, NV) – In June 2014, the North Lyon County Professional Fire Fighters presented a graduating high school student with the organization’s “2014 Scholarship Award.” This education-based donation is part of an annual effort for the firefighters to further education in their community.

Daniel Putney of Fernley High School was presented with a $1,000 scholarship, which will help him with tuition and books when he attends college in the fall of this year. Members of the North Lyon County Fire Department personally presented him with the scholarship check (see photo).
